I head a group of engineers and applied scientists who are working to understand vision by creating systems that can see. We model interactions between light, materials, optics and sensors, and we develop optical and computational techniques for efficiently extracting useful information from visual data.
We enjoy the intersections of computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, signal processing, applied optics, biological vision, and human perception; and we are motivated by applications in robotics, augmented reality and biological imaging.
